Wednesday 9 September 2026 will serve as the designated contingency day in the event of wet weather.

Individual Sprint - Venue to be confirmed (located within the Tauranga/Western Bay of Plenty region)

Team Rogaine - McLaren Falls Park, Lower Kaimai, Tauranga

Entry Fee

NZ$80.00 per individual orienteer

The entry fee covers participation in both the Individual Sprint and Team Rogaine events. Orienteers may choose to take part in one or both disciplines.

All registrations must be submitted online by each school’s designated Zespri AIMS Games Coordinator using their unique login code.

PLANNING INFORMATION

Entry Fees

  • NZ$80.00 per orienteer (non-refundable)

  • Payment is due within 7 days of invoice receipt

  • Invoices will be issued to school accounts managers after entries close

Eligibility

Students must be aged over 10 and under 13 years as of 31 December 2025. For the 2026 Games, eligible birth years are 2013, 2014, and 2015. Birthdates must be provided during registration.

Competition Divisions

Individual Sprint

  • Year 7 Girls

  • Year 7 Boys

  • Year 8 Girls

  • Year 8 Boys

Team Rogaine

  • Year 7 Girls – minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

  • Year 7 Boys – minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

  • Year 7 Mixed – minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

  • Year 8 Girls – minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

  • Year 8 Boys – minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

  • Year 8 Mixed - minimum 2/maximum 3 orienteers per team

There is no restriction on the number of orienteers a school may register. However, the organisers reserve the right to restrict entries per school should numbers become unmanageable for logistical reasons. If entries are over or under subscribed, the organising committee reserves the right to amalgamate divisions at the discretion of the Race Controller.

General Requirements

  • All competitors are expected to have the knowledge and ability to read and understand an orienteering map, including colours and symbols.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times.

  • The SPORTident (SI) electronic punching system will be used. All participants must use the SPORTident Cards provided during registration.

Sprint Event

  • The Sprint is an individual event.

  • Each competitor will be allocated a start time, published the week prior to the event.

  • Start intervals will be set at one minute.

Rogaine Event

  • The Rogaine is a team event. All team members must remain together (within approximately 10 metres) and cross the finish line as a group.

  • Teams may consist of 2 or 3 students. Schools may enter an unlimited number of teams.

  • Mixed teams of Year 7 and Year 8 students are permitted but must be entered in the Year 8 division.

  • Composite teams (students from different schools) are permitted but will be considered unofficial and are not eligible for medals.

  • Teams have 60 minutes to collect as many points as possible and return to the start. Time penalties apply for exceeding the 60‑minute limit.

  • The event will use a mass start for each division.

Multi-Code Participation

Students may enter more than one sporting code, provided they meet permitted code crossover eligibility.

Please note: No timetable adjustments will be made to accommodate scheduling conflicts between sporting codes. It is the responsibility of each school and the parents/caregivers to ensure that students’ chosen events do not overlap.​​​​​​​

RULES

The event will be conducted under the NZ Foot Orienteering Rules as published by Orienteering NZ.

Event Bulletins

Two event bulletins will provide full details, including the event schedule, procedures, and technical information.

These will be:

  • Published on the Zespri AIMS Games website and app

  • Emailed to team managers

  • Displayed at event registration
